Why Ace?

So looking at the certification bodies, I'm leaning towards ACE. If you hold this cert, why did you chose this one vs. one of the others?

I received my ACE in 2000 just as I was entering the field. I picked it because A.) It was popular, B.) recognized by many fitness centers, C.) would teach me a base knowledge to build off of.
If you are thinking about entering this field then I would go with ACE simply for its versatility and notoriety in the field. Experience makes the trainer, not the cert. There are much better certs than ACE, but getting your foot in the door with clients (face 2 face), will get you ready for more advanced certs like NASM, NSCA, ACSM.

I agree 100% with John. Get your ACE cert, get experience, and if you want another certification later then go for it.

Where are you planning on training? Gym? In-home training? Who are your future clients?

I also agree! I have both my CPT from ACE and their Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant certifications.

I earned my NSCA-CPT Cert last year.

Most health clubs want you to have a certification that is popular and national. So ACE, ACSM, and NSCA are at the top of the list in that regard.
