Hey everyone!
I am currently a group fitness instructor for one of the largest dance aerobic franchises in the country. I have an undergraduate degree in Marketing and a masters in Communication. I currently work in marketing and pr and as of lately, I have found that I am happiest when I am teaching and training at my local franchise. I just realized that the desk job really isn't for me and I am looking into getting my Personal Training Certification. I guess I am looking for some guidance on anyone's past experience. Can you survive off of working as a PT? What speedbumps have you hit? What certifications do you reccomend? I recently have been teaching a bootcamp style of class which I love! Is there a certification for bootcamp? Thanks in advance!
Greetings! I don't have time to answer every one of your questions, but just read around especially in the business and marketing area of these forums. I have shared my stories and given my advice, so have several other trainers. I currently work full time as a self employed in-home personal trainer. I also teach my own bootcamp, fitness classes, and corporate wellness classes. I learned almost everything the hard way but I wouldn't have it any other way!
As far as a bootcamp only certification, I look at it like this: If your current certification is good enough for one on one, then you technically aren't really required to look for a bootcamp cert. If you want to know how to handle a bootcamp, go to one yourself from a local trainer in your area! Shadow them, ask for advice, find out how they do things. It's a lot easier than you think!
Yeah, I'm using my sig for anchor text. At least I'm up front about it
