I've been reading the New Rules for Lifting for Women by Shuler and Cosgrove. I just started doing the workout and he says to wait 1 minute between sets. I always thought it was best to only wait a short amount of time (15 seconds or so) between sets so I was a little confused by this because 60 seconds seems too long to me. What do you all think?

Depends on how heavy the weight is.

Just to expand on Christina's response:

If you are exercising for Muscular Endurance (Light weight, 15+ Reps) then you should take short rest periods of 30 seconds or less.

Hypertrophy, Muscular Growth, (Heavy-Moderate Weight, 6 - 12 Reps), the range is between 30 and 90 seconds.

Muscular Strength: Heavy Weight, 6 Reps or Less, two to five minutes.

The harder the muscle works, the more rest you need!
