    Question Start My Studying Tomorrow!

I just received the NSCA CPT study materials and plan on starting tomorrow. I received the main book as well as presentations on cd's. Does anyone have advice on the best way to study? Read a chapter then watch the presentation? How much time should I spend on each chapter? I'm also a little worried that 4 months from now when I finish the book I won't remember a thing from the early chapters. Any advice is appreciated!!

Also, if anyone is in the same position I am, I am looking for a study buddy. Someone to hold me accountable and possible even chat about each chapter.

I should also add that I don't have a background in science or kinesiology. I've been in business (software) for years and wanted to try something new since I had the time and love health and fitness.

    Thanks!
    Nicole

Hi Nicole, it's a little overwhelming, isn't it? When I ordered my certification books I thought it was going to be a repeat of the stuff that I had been reading in my fitness magazines. You can imagine how surprised I was when I opened that first chapter!!!

I remember I felt the same way about forgetting what I initially learned. Over time you will become more familiar with the material and things will sink in a lot better. I read the chapters, created note cards, and studied outside sources (such as anatomy websites and books). In fact, this is one of the reasons why I started this site several years ago because I didn't have anyone to talk to or anyplace I could ask questions.

Break the book into small chunks and skip around from chapter to chapter if you need to. If you have any questions over the next few months pop in and ask. Good luck!
