Default So I just became a member

I just joined the NSCA as a member, buying the Elite package for like 375$, hope its worth that kinda money. I haven't registered for a test yet, waiting until I get my books.
I couldn't decide which certification to get, so I joined this forum and read a few threads, joined another forum and read a few more threads and basically concluded that the NSCA was a more practical based real world test compared to the NASM or the ACSM.
Although I do plan on getting either one of those next, I figured I had to start somewhere and people seem to think the NSCA is a good starting ground.

    Thanks for the help

ps. I wish more people would post to threads, looking at the number of replies to views is a little disheartening...

I think you made the right move. I don't know about ACE or NASM but I think NSCA does a pretty good job preparing their trainers. I have ACSM as well. The two organizations come from completely different angles and that is why I chose both. By the way, NSCA's text/dvd on strength training technique (the name has slipped my mind) is really good.

No kidding. I have noticed this over the years as well. People stop by to get info but few contribute. It's too bad because the only way we can make this a community is if people actually interact with one another.

I think you made a good choice with the NSCA. Its helped me many times over the years. I have both of their certs. which one are you studying for? Here is a tip. If you have the practice test packet, take a test now and grade it. See how you do. then study the text book. make flash cards to help. that's what I did. then in a few months take another test and grade it to compare. The practice test is very good at determining how well you will do on the actual test
