Default Has the NSCA Exam Changed At All? (2009 Exam takers)

Hey anyone who took this exam in 2009, has it changed at all in the set-up /execution. (Not so much the material)

My co-worker has been trying to get certified for the past 3 years. He failed the NSCA exam in 2006 and then I coerced , Errr I mean CONVINCED him to go take the ACE EXam last year.

Unbeknownst to me, the ACE Exam had changed greatly since when I took it and he was caught totally off guard with the "Build a Scenario" Questions. And he totally freaked as he get test anxiety really bad and he failed that one too.

I want him to start studying again for the NSCA as we still have the study materials from 2006 and want to make sure the exam is basically executed in the same manner.

Can someone tell me if the exam is still designed the same? Computer Based or Pencil and Paper would be fine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

    Hey Dave,

Wouldn't that require someone failing it in 2006 and then retaking it in 2009? I doubt there are many people in that situation. They probably would have retaken it by now.

Have you tried calling or emailing the NSCA? I wonder if they would tell you?

I did visit the NSCA site yesterday as I prepare materials for my co-worker to get ready for the exam and it seems like it covers the same material and is executed in the same format as 2006.

I have the Essentials of PT Book, The CDs, a practice exam, and the spiral bound book. So hopefully those are enough study aids to help this guy pass this time! :P

    Thanx Christina!

I took both NSCA certs several years ago and I would suggest that he
    1. study the appropriate NSCA book

    2. get the practice tests that the NSCA sells. they are very good at figuring out if your going to pass or not. NSCA sells packs of 4 tests now I think

Yea, I have to agree with Joe. This is an investment in your career. Consequently, take it seriously. The cost of the exam is high enough that you really don't want to study old stuff and take the exam just because you have old material.
