Default Primary and secondary risk factors for CAD

I just started studying for the NSCA-CPT test/cert this week by simply making an outline by basically copying down the DCO outline and answering all of the questions that they list there. This seems to be working pretty good for me since I'm getting right to the test content opposed to the other 1/4 of the book that won't be on it (I'll be going back and learning those topics once I master most of the test content).

As the title suggests, I need help on actually categorizing the CAD risk factors into Primary and Secondary. One of the questions posed in the DCO is, "what are the primary and secondary risk factors for CAD?" I've re-read the sections about the CAD risk factors, but I can't find anywhere where it actually says Primary and Secondary. I was going to guess that primary risks would be ones you are predisposed to (genetic) and secondary are ones that are environmental/lifestyle based (ones that we can have control over...but at the same time out of the 7 listed family history would be the only one that makes a person predisposed while all of the others could be curtailed with a healthy living style. Am I on the right track or completely wrong?

    Help?

If the DCO asks "what are the primary and secondary risk factors for CAD?" it's a confusing question because in the book they only list positive and negative risk factors.

I would go with the 7 that are listed in table 9.1 as "Primary".

Remember, the exam is multiple choice, so the question will probably be worded like this:

What are the primary/positive CAD risk factors:
    I) Family History, Smoking, Hypertension, Hypercholesterolemia
II)Impaired Fasting Glucose, Obesity, and Sedentary Lifestyle
III) Fast Food eating, Sedentary Life Style, Smoking
IV) Family History, Fainting/diziness, being underweight.

    A) I & II Only
    B) II & III Only
    C) III & IV Only
    D) I & IV Only

It's not going to give you a list of risk factors and ask you to put them in column A or column B.

On MOST HHQs, the primary risk factors are listed on the first page and the secondary risk factors are listed on the back or on page 2.

    Hope that helps.

Yeah, that makes more sense, putting it into a multiple choice scenario. I just freak out a little bit from time to time since there is so much material and no real format as to put it all together besides the DCO.

    Thanks again!
