Default CPR AED course... which one?

Just curious if it makes a difference on which CPR/AED course I take before my exam. I know it needs to have a hands on element but I was wondering if any was "better" (cheaper, more informative, etc) than the rest. I briefly looked at the American Heart Assoc and Red Cross websites but there is little info there... you have to contact the training site. Thanks!

    Hi scrpmtl23,

I do know that the American Heart Association's CPR cert is good for two years instead of one. At least that is what I heard. I do not know if they have a combined AED and CPR class.

American Heart Association does not have a combined CPR/AED and as a result Im not renewing my certification with them. Im going to go through The American Red Cross and they let me renew my AHA cert through them which saves me 4 additional hours. The American Red Cross has a combined training cert. Hope this helps.

I'm taking a Red Cross course called "sport safety training" through my local chapter next month that will give me certifications in Sports Injury Prevention, First Aid, Adult CPR, Child CPR, and AED. Maybe you should look into something like that http://www.redcross.org/services/hss...es/sports.html

    Hi Danyelle,

When you complete the sport safety training course please let us know how you liked the course, if you thought it was worth it, etc. I had no clue the Red Cross offered this and would like more details!

That does help... I definitely won't to attend a combined CPR/AED course. I'll be calling the local Red Cross training center and see about scheduling.
