"Decelerate" muscle action
Hi everyone,
I'm studying for the NASM-CPT exam and notice that many of the quetions in the Study Guide refer to muscles which 'accelerate' and those that 'decelerate'. Can anyone tell me what 'decelerate' means in this context? I emailed NASM several times, but no reponse. I've asked several trainers in my area and they think it means the same as 'antagonist' muscles, based on the questions being asked such as, "which muscles are used to decelerate a squat during the contraction phase?".
Thanks to all!!!
Jeff
