Do you think that maybe she had her cert at one time and let it lapse? (Not that I'm defending her in the slightest.) Is there any way to find out?

I am NASM certified and there is another trainer at my gym who just started training roughly a year and a half ago who, all along, has claimed to have taken and passed her NASM certification about 2 months after I became NASM certified. Some things happened that made me question whether she was really certified or not, so I checked on her through the NASM Board of Certification. They informed me that they do not have any record of her being certified with them. She has told my gym's owner that she is NASM and is having business cards printed that say she has NASM credentials and she is telling clients and potential clients that she is NASM certified and charging top dollar for sessions. My gym owner has never asked her to show her certificate.
Should I blow the whistle on her to my boss or keep my mouth shut? How should I approach this.

Well, I have been at this gym since this person began as a client of another personal trainer there. I remember when she went for her certification in May of '08 and said that she passed. If that were so, her certification should still be active as they are good for 2 years before you have to recertify.
Since I first posted this message, I did decide to tell my gym owners. I guess I asked for the advice because I don't want to involve myself in someone else's business unless I have good cause, but I just told my boss that it might be in his best interest to make her show proof of her certification. He didn't say how or if he was going to handle it
Wow. Let's hope he holds her to the same standards he holds everyone else. I would have said something as well especially if that was a criteria for getting hired. Certs are not cheap to get and maintain.

Liability could be an issue here, so it really was the right move to say something.
