Just did my first group talk today at a slimmers club, I think it went well got a few people interested in my circuit class and handed out some business cards which was good.

But man I've never sweated so much in my life! and grey wasn't the best colour t-shirt to wear!!

Any tip on keeping cool and collected when public speaking?

You could try joining a local branch of the Toastmasters organization. They help people with public speaking.

I think the Toastmasters idea is a good one. In fact, I have looked into it as well. Here is a link explaining Toastmasters: http://www.toastmasters.org/MainMenuCategories/WhyJoin.aspx

As John said, you just have to keep doing it until it is no big deal. I'm sure you already know this, but public speaking is the number one fear for a lot of people. You're in good company.

Congrats on drumming up some interest! Now you just have to follow through. Did you get their contact info? An email address at least?

Congratulations, Tom! The more you prepare, and the more you do, the more relaxed you will be.

Always include some type of call to action in your presentation. Slide in examples of what you do with clients, in order to set the light bulb off in the audience's head. Subtle but effective.

And, yes, you always want a way to collect contact information. These are all potential clients, and even when someone SAYS they will contact you, often they need a reminder. So, afterwards, arrange it so you contact them. And, even if they don't become clients this year, it's only a matter of time... providing they are your ideal clients and you have what they are attracted to.

And, I also highly recommend Toastmasters!
