Default Which certification after 4 year degree? Or just go PT?

Hello, I have just graduated with a degree in B.S. in biology. I think I meet most of the requirements for CSCS or HFS (until July for that one since I need a specific exercise related degree) however, my biology degree was not really exercise or physiology based but molecular and microbiology. I am only now taking classes in Human anatomy and physiology.

I do have experience being an athlete 6 years into boxing as well as 2 years in instruction.

1)My questions are : Will studying for CSCS or HFS still force me to study the basics that are required of personal trainers? (what stretch/exercise helps which muscle etc...)

I notice that in the recommended study list for HFS they do not list the resource book for personal trainers. Is that because they already expect one to know everything in that resource book? I feel that with the study material they recommended I would lack a lot of practical exercise knowledge.

2)Is this also true of CSCS or will studying for that help me a lot more in the practical areas?

    3) Are those 2 certifications too specific to study?Im a person with only some but not extensive background in Anatomy and Physiology, should I just get CPT?

My purpose is to gain a certification so I can work as a physical therapy aide, but at the same time I feel like because of my 4 year degree, I can study towards a advanced degree.

    Thanks

I am not entirely familiar with the requirements for CSCS or HFS (I looked into it a while ago), so hopefully someone will respond who is. In the meantime, I believe the idea is that yes, you should already have that foundational CPT knowledge before you become a CSCS or HFS.

Per my answer above, I believe it is the same for both -- you need the foundational CPT knowledge.

Sounds like you might need to work towards the CPT first (I'm guessing you need that first before you can even go for an advanced cert, but again check that.)

I'm not sure how many PT aides there are on this site, but I would ask some potential employers what they typically require.
