    Default Hmmm, which one....

So my question isn't anything out of the ordinary but I'm just confused as which cert. to pick. I've always considered becoming a CPT but have just never went through with it and now that I have a "career" job that doesn't pay anything (firefighter) I now need a part-time job and think this would be a good job for a little extra cash along with when I get my EMT as a part time.

Anyways, I have a Bachelors in Kineisology w/my major being Athletic Training (which I never pursued after b/c I'm an idiot lol....long story). I've always been interested in the medical/health fields and would pursue nursing if I could afford it in a heart beat. So I'm leaning more towards ACSM b/c they have more options or advanced certifications that I would be interested in in the future possibly that could maybe lead to better or more opportunities.

So my question would be should I get the ACE first since it's "easier" and then go for ACSM or even NSCA?

Second question:Anywhere where you can purchase these books used besides like amazon for cheaper? My mom used to work at human kinetics so I have personal training textbooks from like NSCA that's a pretty recent edition. Just can't afford brand new ones right now...

    Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the forum! If you are interested in personal training from a health and wellness perspective, then in my opinion you should consider ACSM. NSCA focuses on strength and conditioning.

With your background/schooling I would skip ACE and go for ACSM (if that's the organization you choose).

As far as the books are concerned check eBay or post something on here or a similar website. You could always check books out of the library or do an interlibrary loan, however, I am not sure how long you could keep the books. Amazon has used books as well. Check for websites out there that sells used texts.

Let us know if you have more questions.
