    Default W.I.T.S Certification????

    Hi,
Im in my 3rd week of the WITS certification class. As this progresses, Im getting the feeling Im being scammed. I dont know of a single person who was able to get work with the WITS cert alone. Not to mention they expect you to get an "internship" before they consider you "certified". Which means finding a fitness professional who's willing to spend 30 hours a week coaching you FREE OF CHARGE! Im am very sorry I gave them my money.
They said NOTHING about the internship part of this untill the 1st day of class, and then said it's too late for a refund after the first day.
I feel this was fraudulent. What can I do? Is there ANY place that will have me with just the WITS cert, or should I call a lawyer?

    Hi Wendy,

Firstly, I have never heard of W.I.T.S. Thats is not a good thing.

Secondly, check out the comments about the W.I.T.S program here (from a website that reviews personal training cert programs and has community input)

    W.I.T.S. Certification

    and

World Instructor Training Schools Certification ( WITS )

I am not saying that the program is bogus, its just that in 5 minutes of googling it I havn't found any positive feed back about the program.

Unpaid internships are common in professional settings but I don't know of any other personal training certs that require one. You may be better off getting a more recognized and reputable cert and cutting your losses.

Definatley continue to research the program a bit more. Maybe call a few gyms in your area and ask their managers what they think about this cert.

    good luck

While the WITS certification probably cannot compete with some of the more credible certifications that have been around for many years, the fact that they require an internship makes them more credible than those real scams where all you need to do is send a company some money to receive a certified status.

If you have a question about personal training please post it on the forum instead of sending me an email or private message. Chances are your questions will help someone else. Thanks!
