NETA group certification?
Okay, I am sure you all hear tons of the "which cert should I choose" from people new to this. So here is another one! I want to become group exercise instructor certified, and have been looking at various options on my own.
From what I understand, the most important factors are accreditation of the course taken, and recognition of the program. I found that NETA (formerly NDEITA) is accredited by the NCCA. I like that you can do most of their program from home, as I am a full time college student and have a daughter. They seem to offer reasonably good CECs, though not as thorough as ACE.
Yet, nobody seems to be talking about them-is there a reason? Thanks!

I would definately recommend looking into any training your college provides and/or hosts. My Univeristy (Student Recreation Department) sponsered a NASM certification event and everything was nearly half-price and it was on a weekend. I cannot comment on NETA as I know very little about them. But, I'm sure someone will be along to help you shortly.

Thanks, that's a great idea! I know certain programs we have are certified by the ACSM, so it would make sense that they would offer something for students. Thanks for the idea, I'll check it out next week.

I know of NETA. When I managed a fitness center, I recommended all my group exercise instructors to be NETA-certified. They are fine for Group Ex. Personal training is another story.

Did you recommend NETA because you particularly liked them, or just because it was acceptable?

NETA is known as a primarily group exercise cerrtification (as your noted, they used to be NDEITA). Thats why I looked for them when hiring a group exericse instructor. They would not be my first choice for a personal trainer.
