Default What do you guys think of this Masters program?

I found this on NSCA's website. I am not a fan of online degrees but this one caught my eye because it is recognized by the NSCA.

    Any opinions?

    Hi Christina!

On the plus side, this program takes a very practical "hands on" approach to strength training. For a Master's Degree Program, some people might prefer a more structured program with more theory (chemistry, physiology, kinesiology) AND a thesis required for completion.

Hey Curt! Thanks for taking a moment to check out the program. Yeah, I agree with the whole theory thing. I think it really depends on which direction someone wants to go with their career. I haven't quite decided. Have you heard anything about the ACSM exercise specialist cert?

I hope things are going well!

    Christina:

Nothing back yet from ACSM on the Exercise Specialist cert. I sent in my inquiry regarding an exception to the Life Science degree about two weeks ago. I suspect that the ACSM certification department is plenty busy these days as they just changed the requirement from a Bachelor's Degree to a Master's degree for the Exercise Physiologist cert. I'm sure they're receiving plenty of inquiries on the Exercise Physiology cert no less the Exercise Specialist cert I'm interested in.

I still think that the Exercise Specialist is a good cert to have if one plans on dealing with and training cardio and pulmonary rehab cases. I like dealing with high risk/high reward clients. I'm taking Randy Fiel's Exercise Prescription and Coaching class at UCLA right now which concentrates on ACSM req's. Really good class but most all the material is directed towards normal healthy people.

Hope I hear from ACSM soon.
