Advice?
Had a job interview and was asked, "If you disagree with another trainers program design. What actions would you take?"
I tried to answer with dealing with conflict.... dont make it personal, listen to their side...
I did not have a very confident answer to give and was wondering if any of you trainers deal with this on a regular basis? If so, advice on how to handle the situation?
Thanks in advance,
Zack

Interview question: Plan Design
My professional fitness business training as well as personal experience has taught me that if we're all Independent Contractors, then the answer to the interview question is "nothing...it's THEIR businesss". There is no perfect plan design for a client, and people have different philosophies. It really comes down to people skills. Plus, if I were interested, I'd ask the other person how (and not 'why') they came up with that particular plan design. I'd ask with true interest rather than with a judgemental tone. Maybe I could learn something from them!!

Never thought of it like that. Thanks for your perspective, that makes a lot of sense.

I'd seek to have a conversation with the other trainer, and gain his/her perspective on why the program was designed as such.
You not being in agreement could mean you do not understand. And the truth is, you may be in error. You won't be able to determine that unless you and the other trainer open a line of communication. Through that line of communication you have the opportunity to gain a greater perspective of his/her methodology. And vice versa.
