    Default Inexperience

I am currently studying for the NASM certification. I am still in the early phases of studying but am confident that i will be able to pass the test without a problem. I have an excellent memory which has made test taking very easy in my life. My concern is I feel if I pass the test will I really know enough to be able to just go and train people. Just passing the test means that I can pass the test will I really be able to just go and train people. Maybe I'm just doubting myself but I don't know.

Think of it this way: gaining the education and Passing the test doesnt make a person an accomplished trainer, it only provides the opportunity to start learning to become an accomplished trainer.

so, once you've received your cert, start applying your knowledge in the field. Im sure in no time, you'll be a successful trainer

Hi hlz -- Mitchel is right; it is just the start of your education -- think of it as the foundation and from the moment you pass, you'll start to build on it right away.

I was nervous about that too when I was ready to take the test. I was like "oh my goodness, what happens next? I've been studying all this time and now I actually have to apply it?"

Think of it this way -- you've got the basic guidelines for warm up, cardiovascular exercise, strength training, flexibility and cool down. No shame in consulting your texts for help when you're first starting out. I am almost a year into this and I still consult my texts. I have a feeling that we'll both be doing it now and again even years into our practice.

And don't forget to network -- reach out to people and ask for help and guidance. Some will be more than happy to share their experiences and want to help you do the right thing.

You'll be fine -- and good luck with the test -- although it sounds like you've got it in the bag.

You know what I think truly most people just passing their tests are in the same boat you are. Atleast I know I felt the exact same way.
"I know how to train myself but can I train some one else?"
"Do I really know enough about nutrition to provide someone knowledgeable advise to follow?"
"If I've never actually trained anyone why would a gym want to hire me?"

These were all questions I asked myself as I was studying and after I took my test. I still don't feel that I have enough to offer clients if they were to buy sessions with me, but you never know until you do it.
