    Default pet peeves?

Hey everybody. I had a thought today about gym etiquette and wondered what gets under the skin of other trainers. It could be toward general fitness center mannerisms, bad habits from clients or even how a gym tends to run itself. I'll start off with one. I don't like it when people don't re-rack their weights or they re-rack them improperly. If you see a stack of 35 pound plates, the 5 pounders probably don't belong there. Not to mention the 45 pound plates are on the bottom for a reason, don't try to squeeze them up top. What are some other thoughts?

Flirting with frequent gym-users. It is good to be friendly - I love cracking jokes here and then to help lighten the mood, definitely. But to go beyond that step and constantly 'prowl' among many of the younger crowd is something that is ehhhh whenever I see it.

More for male trainer --> female gym-users/clients.

I don't work in a gym, but if I were a client I would want 100% full attention from my trainer. I've seen other trainers look around the gym while the client is doing his/her exercises. (It's the kind of looking around that says 'I'm bored.') I've also seen trainers who hardly talk to their clients. To me, this is strange and very impersonal. Then again, this is coming from someone who probably talks too much.

my pet peve is when I see "certified" personal trainers doing exercise the wrong way. I recently blogged about a trainer who was showing people how to do the lat pull down exercise - by pulling the bar behind the head!

Another pet peve - even a bigger one than above is how all the sales staff at the gym smoke! They go off to the side of the building to smoke - but we can all still see them. there is no room in fitness for a trainer who smokes and there should be no room also for fitness salesman who smoke either.
