    Default ACSM Cancer Exercise Trainer?

    Hi there!

I'm a recently certified ACSM personal trainer (woot!) and I wanted to know if anyone out there has gotten or has been thinking about getting their CET cert? (Cancer Exercise Trainer)

This is my ultimate long term goal, but unfortunately, you need 500+ hours working with the elderly population or people with chronic diseases.

I'm kind of at a loss as to how to get this experience. I've applied at some big name gyms in my area (24 hour, Bally's, etc.) and gotten a few interviews. It looks like I have a pretty good handle at a job at a 24 hour fitness, but I'm not sure if this would be the best avenue to go down for my CET?

Anyone have any suggestions? I've applied at a primarily senior gym, but they require experience.

Wow, that is a lot of hours. I looked at this cert some time ago and I do not remember it being so many hours. Then again, that was when this certification was brand new so maybe the ACSM has changed some things since then.

Have you considered doing some on site training at nursing homes or assisted living communities? You could always consider donating a little of your time on a Saturday morning if the nursing home was not willing to pay.
