    Default Portable Body Fat Analyzer

Good Morning, I am looking for a good Portable Body Fat Analyzer. I do not know if they are too reliable so I am not sure I want to make the investment.

Does anyone have any experience with Portable Body Fat Analyzers?

If so which ones do you suggest?

    Thank you!

    Hi Jose,

On recommendation, I bought the Omron Body Fat Analyzer (306-C; called Body Fat Loss Monitor -- company tells me it's the same thing). I haven't compared it to calipers but it seems to be hitting "in the general" area. There are a variety of comments on Amazon that you can peruse. Some say they're pretty accurate -- others say stay away. For something quick and that is non-invasive (because people may not want to be pinched with calipers), I think it's pretty nifty.

    Just one CPT's opinion.

The accuracy goes up when you pay attention to all the rules that you should follow. Generally they cost about $50 for the hand held version. there is another type that you stand on and hold (Tanita makes it I think). In theory this might be more accurate because it measures both upper and lower body regions. I have not seen any research on it yet however.
Remember to ask everybody if they have a pacemaker/defibrillator or are pregnant before using it. Just a precaution
