    Default training a recent ex-smoker

    Hi everyone,

I have a client who just quit smoking about 2 months ago. She told me that her cardio workout has consisted of intervals (moderate intensity) on the treadmill for about 20 mins. Other than that, that's about all she can handle. I am guessing that I should estimate her VO2 max. What is the safest way to do that considering she just quit?

    Thanks,

    Dinah

    Hi Dinah
I wouldnt worry about estimating VO2max in your new client. Do check the treadmills at the gym you work out. Many have a "5 min fit test" (I know Life Fitness treadmills do). it will do the work for you and give your client a score (poor, excellent, good etc).
