    Default PCOS & Weight Loss

I am working with a client who has PCOS. She is not on birth control because she would like to get pregnant. Since she has stopped the pill she has gained 17 pounds in 7 months without changing her diet or exercise routine much at all. I am not a new trainer (been making a living at it for 12 years) so I have tried all the logical solutions to help her. Have any of you worked with someone with PCOS? What has helped or worked for you?

I live with someone who has PCOS if you mean polycystic ovarian syndrome. I recommend them seeing a doctor or dietition, because of the insulin resistance they usually need a special diet. I will say that before we got the diagnosis of PCOS, weight watchers produced very good results. Recently we have visited an MD who said what not to eat. We are currently looking for an RD to help with meal plans.

    Default Pcos

Hi - I'm a personal trainer with LOTS of experience working with women with PCOS. Most of my clients have it; as do I. I can related to the 17 lbs in 7 months. Not uncommon! I can probably help you figure out a training strategy for this client. What have you been trying? I'm happy to help. We can talk off line too, if you want. Let me know.

If I can help you find an RD, let me know. If you haven't checked already, try going to the ADA website; eatright.org.
