Default Gripe about some personal trainers' websites.

I am amazed at some of the websites I see in this industry. What are some trainers thinking by putting up half nude photos of themselves in seductive positions?!? Has anyone else noticed this? Can you imagine if your doctor or physical therapist had these sorts of photos on their websites? Where's the professionalism in our industry?

    Put on some clothes, people!

    Sheesh.

    pix plz? a/s/l?

On a more serious note, I think of it in the same way I think of attracting a "significant other" (I would've used mate, but that sounds kinda wrong with humans...). You 'advertise' based on what you want/like. If they half naked and thrusting at a set of dumbbells, then they probably want to train the people who are more about the aesthetics. Women would see a an attractive man, and men would see an attractive man. To other people. Sometimes...

If you dress professional, you'll get clients who will want something more than an aesthetic modification.

The way I see it, be grateful that everyone isn't professional, competent, and clothed. That way, more clients for you!

I also like to mention that Dave is topless, albeit not suggesting anything.. Or is he...

Okay Okay, before this gets OUT OF HAND, I am only "TOPLESS" in one photo on my ebook page on my VERY PROFESSIONAL www.Exercise2u.com website LOL so that people can get an idea what that e-book can do for them. And the pose is hardly seductive. Ha ha ha!

MY avatar here is topless because it needed a change in May and was one of the better headshots from my palm springs photos.

As I've said many times before, buying a personal trainer because of his/her physique is a bad method, but consumers can't help to purchase something they find attractive, and some of our Personal Training sisters and brothers are taking advantage of this. Or as John says, the trainer wants to show off their "Body of Work" showing that they walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

My hope is that those trainers who use their bodies to sell their services have the knowledge to back it up and give us all a good name, but I fear that is hardly ever the case.

I agree with Christina that a lot of trainers take it to the extreme and look like they are selling sexual experiences and not personal training.

If you are on this forum and are considering putting up a website, make sure it is professional, functional and informative. There are plenty of posters here that have excellent professional websites. Check them out and get ideas!

This is exactly what I was trying to say, Dave. I ran across a site yesterday where the gal apparently thought she was posing for Playboy. There is also a trainer in my area who looks like a prostitute on her website. No joke. I cringe when I see this stuff. (No, I will not provide links. ) By the way, Dave, we were just having a little fun with your avatar photo. :P

In IMO, most times--not all--trainers that have to use their bodies as the main selling/marketing tool lack in another area.
I think you are right on, John.

Look, I get it if you are a competitive bodybuilder and are trying to attract aspiring bodybuilders, but in my opinion, sexy, suggestive poses are always extremely unprofessional.

Displaying your body is ok - we're in the physique business after all -

But seductive, sexual poses? Yeah, that's ridiculous -
