Default What training/ routine do you do? for your own fitness?

Hey all I've just been going through some of my old training plans I have used to get myself in shape, I'm looking to change mine as its a bit samey.

What do all you lot do to stay fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Currently I'm in training for a half marathon in October so I'm doing 2 small runs and 1 big run in the week increase distance then speed gradually.

I'm looking a possibly doing judo or kickboxing but I run classes in the evening so could be difficult.

I'm going to do a general function training routine once a week, and bodybuilding routine 2 per week. thats the plan anyway

    Hey Tom,

I like to bike, run, go for hikes, and lift weights. In the gym I do deadlifts, squats, lat pulldowns, chinups, military press, dips, etc. Nothing too fancy. I also want to compete in a triathlon soon so I am going to start reading up on sport specific training.

Will this be your first half?

Yeah this is my first half, I did a fun run a few months back but didn't train for it I did 1:21 and the run was about 8 miles, pretty painful due to the lack of training!

Have you done a triathlon before? I would love to give that a go as soon as our local pool is open again!

LOL! You sound like a friend of mine who ran a half without training. What are you people thinking?

Yes, it will be my first tri. The thing that I am finding about tris is it appeals to my ADHD tendencies because I get to train for 3 things at once! There are some fantastic books and websites out there to get you started so if you need some resources let me know.

What is tough guy? We have "tough man" contests for amateur fighters. Is this what you are talking about?

Tough guy is a race but there are different obstacles on the course like cargo nets, underwater tunnels, jumping over fire, loads of crazy bits.

Google toughguy uk I'm sure you'll find the site!

My routine is basic bodybuilder meat head resistance training routine. LOL

    4 Day Split, Weights M/T/TH/F, Cardio W/S.

    Currently on a bulking phase

Up from 197lbs to 205lbs, body fat pretty much stayed the same.

But as I near 40 y.o., I too am thinking about entering a race or competition.

And of course Mr. Phelps performance has me wanting to get back in the swimming pool. I'm such a sucker for pop sports icons!
