Do you know if you can duplicate the Rockport 1 mile walk test on a teadmill? I am looking for a simple treadmill test that is one stage (No Elevation). I need a test that is simular to the YMCA 3 minute step test but to be preformed on a treadmill.

Hey Deb,

Looks like this guy duplicated the Rockport walk test on a track and treadmill:

Nieman DC (1999) Exercise Testing and Prescription: A Health-Related Approach (4th Ed.). Mountain View, CA: Mayfield Publishing Company, pp 90.

I haven't actualy read his study, ops: but it was referenced here:

Thanks, it does look like he did duplicate it on the treadmill. I am going to try to find his complete article to see the rating scale and the formulas he used. I know how to figure the VO2max for this test but I am not sure how to rate the person ex: poor, average, good, excellent and the population average.
