    Default Ketosis..healthy?

comments on ketosis? I have read some controversial things to support as well as scrutinize the use of this method. Please offer your thoughts. I treat some very athletic people as well as some rehab training. Looking for more info on this.

    Hi Christopher,

Did you see the comments that Joe and I posted? Are you looking for the opinions of more trainers? Or are you looking for studies/research?

Not sure if you saw the info we posted since you started a new thread. Thanks for clarifying.

I forget what I wrote earlier however if ketosis was "healthy" then diabetics wouldn't have to worry about it - but they do! ketosis, left unchecked is deadly.

the greater issue is Atkins itself (and other similar diets). there was an interesting study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2003 that found that after 1 year, Atkins was no more effective for weight loss than just counting calories.

Short term Atkins is probably safe for healthy people. long term it doesnt seem to be better than anything else.

Why would one want to be in ketosis if it didn't offer any special benefit over long term weight loss?

    hope that helps
