I don't think we've ever talked about this before. What's your story? Here's mine.
I was always very, very underweight. I knew I was way too skinny and I needed to gain weight but didn't know how. People can be so mean when you are an underweight female. I mean REALLY mean. At least when a woman is fat people most people will be courteous enough to trash her behind her back. But when a woman is thin it's a whole different story. My self confidence took a huge beating over the years. Anyway, even though I had been underweight my whole life I was always athletically gifted. I got into weight training when I was in my early 20's. I LOVED it. Even though I didn't really know what I was doing, I weight trained on and off for about 10 years. When I was in my early 30's I decided I wanted to go into personal training. The only thing holding me back was my weight. (When I told people I wanted to become a trainer I'm sure they thought I was a total dork.) I took several classes in exercise science and put my new found knowledge to the test. Lo and behold I gained 20 pounds! (I was amazed that I was actually human and that exercise physiology applied to ME! :lolThere are times when I still feel like I am too skinny out of sheer habit. (For those of you who have been in a similar situation--overweight or underweight--I'm sure you can relate.) I want to use the knowledge that I have attained and tested on myself to help others achieve their goals.
So that's my story. Anyone else?
