Default OK, so I like PT on the net but...

The online training feature is not quite as flexible as I had hoped for. For example, I don't necessarily want the choices of color schemes they have provided, I don't want a "play video" icon to appear under the photos I have uploaded, I don't like how I uploaded a test image for my logo and then I couldn't remove it, I don't like how their logo appears at the top of the screen (I realize I have the option of turning it off but if I do I am left with nothing at the top, no color, site description, nothing) and I don't like the way the calendar is set up (meaning, I cannot choose the order in which the client performs the exercises. For example, I have a cardio as well as a stretching program for my client on certain days of the week but I cannot get it to list cardio first and then stretching.)

Dave, what are your thoughts? Am I just being too picky?

Don't get me wrong. This is a fantastic concept but just not what I had expected.

Okay, This is where you're going to kill me. LOL

I do not use the create a program function very much.

What I do is research the exercises/stretches that I want my client to perform and cut/paste them into a WORD document. (I know a lot of work on my part).

Anyhoo, Did you do all these steps? It looks like you have the option of putting exercises in order before you finalize the program you create:

Step 1 : Do you want to create an individual program or a template?
Step 2 : Select an existing client, or set up a new one.
Step 3 : Create your program! Select exercises and stretches, exercise variables, warm-up, cool down and cardio, set order of exercises and finalize program (then print, email or save for later use!)

Did you click on the "Having Technical Difficulties" link? Was it not helpful in explaining how to do what you want it to do?

I feel awful for recommending it to you if it's not being a good tool.

    Let me know.

    Hi Dave,

Don't get me wrong -- it's a great tool. I just look at it and go, "This thing could be perfect if they would just do..." Oh, and one of the other things I meant to include on my list is their URL all over the videos. I know they have to protect their business but... In their defense they give us the option of adding our own videos so I shouldn't complain!

The exercise order I was referring to is the calendar only. I think what it boils down to is the simplicity of their software.

By the way I am ONLY referring to their online training software. This is a very small section of their entire site. Their site as a whole is fantastic and I would recommend it to all trainers!!!

    Default PT on the Net

I read that PT on the NET has over 1,000 pictures and videos of exercises.
Question: Once a personal trainer subscribes to the yearly service, is access to the exercise pictures and videos only for the personal trainer? Or, can the personal trainer upload the exercise section to their own site to allow their clients access for reference purposes?

    Many thanks.

    Hey Lou,

Although I don't use the "Create-A-Program" function often on PtonTheNEt. You can create a program w/ pictures of the exercises for your client and e-mail it to them.

Then the client can access the program anytime.

As I state also in my post above, you can also create the program in MS Word and "Cut and Paste" the pictures from PTONTHENET.COM in to the document then e-mail that document to your client (or print it out for their use). That way if you no longer belong to PTONTHENET they will still have the program and pictures.

I think they have way more than 1000 pictures of exercises, but there are some common exercises variation that they don't have pictures. For example. Underhand/reverse grip lat pulldowns. BUt in their defense they do add new exercises all the time, and probably have the largest "Functional exercise" picture library on the internet.

I think it is definitely worth it.

    Dave,

Thanks for your feedback. Looks like it's a great program. I'm going to get it this week.
