Default For anyone who is also a life/wellness coach

    Hi all,

I'm not real sure how many of you are also life/wellness coaches, but just in case, I wanted to post this announcement.

The ICF (International Coach Federation) has commissioned PriceWaterhouseCooper to conduct an international study about the coaching profession, without any limitations on affiliations, coaching schools, associations, etc.

Here is the link to register for the survey:
    https://www.pwcresearch.com/uc/coach...yregistration/

If you know anyone else who is a coach, please pass this link on and have them register to take the survey. ICF is hoping to get anyone involved in coaching in on the survey so this will become the benchmark for all future study.

Everyone who participates will receive a free copy of the results.

    Hi Margie,

I don't mean to steer away from your original post but what is a reputable certifying organization for a life coach? I'm looking into www.wellcoach.com for well coaching/fitness coaching but as far as life coaching I wouldn't know where to begin. It seems like there are a million organizations out there. Is there a website you could point me to? This isn't anything I am interested in immediately but perhaps someday down the road.

    Thanks!

    Default Coaching

    Hi Christina,

Wellcoaches has a very good reputation. I do believe they offer CEU's for ACSM, also. I know they offer continuing ed units for RD's.

Christina, you have to first decide what your GOAL is in becoming a coach. If it's strictly for wellness, which is common among trainers (and dietitians), than either Wellcoaches or Intrinsic Coaching (http://www.totallycoached.com/icoaching.htm) are both good suggestions.

For more on coaching in general, there are two sites to definitely check out: The first is Coachville (http://learning.coachville.com/home/index.html). Coachville is free to join, but the resources available to all members is incredible. They not only have different communities of interest, but they also have the Coachville Schools of Coaching.

The other site is the International Coach Federation (http://www.coachfederation.org/ICF/). The ICF is the premier organization for coach certification. They are the reason I did not take the Wellcoaches program, myself, because I want more than 'just' wellness coaching. ICF is not free to join, and to become certified a coach has to document minimum hours of paid coaching practice. Spend some time on there and check out the schools. I feel confident in saying that any of the schools listed (which are ICF-accredited, which I can go into more detail about) are credible schools.

Finally, this does NOT mean that Wellcoaches and Intrinsic Coaching are NOT, they just aren't ICF-accredited. It has more to do with what your ultimate goal is, again..
