Christina:

Still running five days a week but not as much as before due to resuming my tennis workouts and tournament play. Used to run about 17 miles per day, six and a half minute mile pace, six days per week. With tennis added in, now I do a little over 7 miles per day. Tennis and running require vastly different movements which can make your knees feel like Reynolds wrap if you're not careful..

5 miles per day is good for you though. Keep the carbs and water level up especially if you quickly pick up the intensity on your mile times.

My degrees are in Economics. I thought about UCLA for a few extra courses in Chemistry, Physics etc as I graduated from UC Berkeley, which has a reciprocation program with UCLA, meaning that the two schools accept course credits from each other. UCLA does not have a degree in Exercise Science and the only courses I'm missing towards some of the other life science majors are a few courses in Chemistry and a course or two in Physics possibly. I fufilled all the math requirements plus all the general education and some of the anatomy and physiology pre-req's.

If I don't get anything out of UCLA though, I'll move on to ACSM directly and see if I can pull the life science degree stuff out of the fire.

I'm taking Randy's class in Exercise Prescription this quarter as I told you. We've got the airline stewardess girl, Michelle in our class plus one of the "Gumby Girls"- Elizabeth from Tom Delong's Resistance Training class. I call them the Gumby Girls 'cause they have the flexibility of clay models. Elizabeth was the other half of the husband and wife team who used to bring the salad, carrots, and raisins to class.

Anyhow, I'm finally over last quarter I think. Wrote up a 60 page project for the Operating your Own Fitness Business Class plus I got through Exercise Physiology as well. Perry Powell, the instructor for "online" Exercise Physiology is no bargain. I wouldn't recommend him like I would Marge Morris. Marge is a great instructor plus she has a Registered Dietician and a Masters in Teaching credential. Speaking of Marge, I'm taking her Exercise and Sports nutrition course next quarter along with Randy Fiel's Execise Testing class. I'll finish out the exercise certification program next quarter than I'll see if I can schmooze the ACSM or the UCLA folks into some sort of deal on the Exercise Specialist Certification.
