Here's a question for all of you personal trainers. (I'm only in the process of getting certified through NASM.)

Q: Do YOU ever get burned out or bored with exercising? Or do you ever get to where your mind just "isn't there" when you are trying to workout?

The reason I ask, is because I want to know if I'm normal or not. Laughing
I absolutely love exercise and try to exercise every day of the week except for Sunday. Sometimes there are days though, that I just don't feel like I have it in me. Sometimes I just do NOT want to work out - and it worries me that I feel like that at times, yet I'm wanting to be a trainer and motivate others to love exercise.

For example: Yesterday I had an awesome workout! Loved it, enjoyed it, felt good about it. Today, I had to force myself to start working out and for the first 20 minutes I had to keep telling myself to just do it...and finally I gave up and quit. Granted, I was up 3 times last night with a sick child, my mind was wandering to my "to-do" list and I just didn't feel like I was in the mood.

Please tell me this is normal for you other trainers. I do mix up my workout routines to help me not get bored, but sometimes I still just don't have it in me. What do you do if you ever get this way? Or DO you ever get this way?

It's normal, especially after a night of intermittant sleep.

Cut yourself a break. Take a day off.

Yep.

This morning it took every ounce of my mental and physical strength to get through a run. That's just part of being human.

Whew! So glad to hear that I'm normal...and that this doesn't mean I'm not cut out to be a trainer! (ha ha!) You guys are awesome!

Been working every week for the last 14 years (with intermittent breaks). Sometimes have to push myself harder, sometimes comes easily. At the end of the day, I monitor by body responses and back off when I need to. Could be a sign of over-training--or more frequently known as over-reaching.

yep I can relate to this one i have to drag myself through my workouts sometimes- almost just do it as its part of my job! My dad used to work in a chocolate factory when I was very small- he used to love chocolate before hand after that he couldn't touch it.
Also in my night time job i work as a bouncer- I haven't been out clubbing now for 5 years!
You always end up hurting that which you love! Shocked

Ugh, I know what you mean. I owned a scrapbook business for eight years...(it was a family business)...I loved scrapbooking so much...but got to the point where I did NOT enjoy what I was doing. We sold the business last summer and that explains why I'm going after my personal training certificate. I need to figure out a way to make sure I don't end up hating working out as well...that would be sad.
