Hi All....Just thought I would pop in and tell a little about myself which may, or may not, put some perspective on my questions.
I have a degree in Elementary Education (emphasis on P.E.) yet have been working in the technology field for the past 25 years. Not a "profession" I chose, it just chose me. Physical activity, group sports, etc., had always been a big part of my life...then BOOM, life happened. In my late 20's, early 30's I began gaining a severe amount of weight, stopped golfing, playing softball and volleyball, and I put my bike in storage. After 10 years, I started putting physical activity back into my life and using diet and exercise alone, in 15 months, I have lost +150 lbs and gained who knows how many years of life.
After a good deal of thought, I have finally decided that now is a GREAT time to start doing something I have always wanted to do...teach, instruct, and motivate. Doing what others wanted/needed me to do almost killed me, so it's time to get back on track.
My plan begins with becoming ACE certified, obtaining part time work in the fitness industry, becoming ACSM or NSCA certified, and eventually leaving the tech industry and going out on my own. I haven't focused on what my target group will be, but I am down to two groups - tweens/teens or seniors.
This may all seem pie in the sky, but until reality hits...this is my plan. I look forward to picking the brains and learning from all of you "old hands".

Hi Vanetta and welcome! This sounds like a great plan of attack. My best advice to you would be to learn all that you can. Study outside resources and find a well respected mentor in this industry. If you have the opportunity to take college classes, do it! You can NEVER learn too much.

Best of luck and feel free to ask questions.
