Default Post your PT website and receive critique!

Guys, I finally sat down last night for several hours and did something I've been putting off for a long time... I completely re-vamped my old, cluttered web-page and made a much more user friendly site. I loved that I was able to feature social networking buttons, a newsletter opt-in, my custom signature at the bottom, and the 'instant online booking' option.

I'd love any feedback! Just keep it positive! As a matter of fact, if it's okay with Christina... can we have each trainer post their PERSONAL TRAINING website? Not a marketing, e-book, or blog website... but your actual local web-page. We can help each-other and grow a stronger business by sharing our knowledge with each-other!

Christina, if this thread violates your policies, please accept my apologies and delete it.

My site is located in my signature, under "I'm a personal trainer in Greenville, SC"

    Thanks!

I think this is a good idea and it will be fun to get to know one another this way. When you list your site DO NOT link to anything other than your local personal training website. (Sorry to always sound like such a stickler but inevitably someone will log on and try to sell something.) I will make this thread a sticky and I will place it permanently at at the top of the Business and Marketing Discussions forum.

    Justin,

    Some comments about your site...

Here are a few comments/suggestions to get you started.

    1. Love the logo/header
    2. Love the call to action buttons
    3. Free consultation - I do this too and get great results
    4. I would like to see a photo and biography of you on the site. If I were you, I would put a photo up of you training someone and then a few personal photos. I love the photo that you use in your avatar on this site. Is this your wife? One of the reasons why my women clients have hired me is because I am a woman. Sometimes women (and especially their husbands) do not want a strange male coming into their home. If you show a photo of you and your wife (or children if you have any) then it shows a certain amount of trust. Also, you might consider asking one of your female clients if you could use her for a reference and then state on your site that references are available. A lot of men don't think about safety because they don't have to but women think about it a lot. This might give you an edge above other male trainers in your area.
    5. Play around with the layout on your front page where you list your articles and videos. The text is a little choppy. Google something on how to lay out text on webpages or the next time you are at Borders or Barnes and Noble look in the graphic design section for books on layout. This will give you some ideas.
    6. Left align all text on your bootcamp page

I went to art school for a few semesters and used to do web design so feel free to ask me any
    questions.

    Hope this helps,
    Christina

PS - By the way, your first YouTube video is endearing. You're going to do great in life.

Thanks for the great insight! I am working on finding a photographer to do some professional photos of me, but in the mean-time that's a great idea-- posting a picture of me with the wife! You're definitely right about the trust issue factor. When I get a call from a female client (95% of my clientell) I offer to meet them at a coffee shop or somewhere in public first. I also encourage the husbands to participate in the session as well!

The "articles and vids" page is a bit choppy. All I did was copy/paste a quick RSS feed from my blog and youtube channel. Everything I learned about web development, I taught myself or found the information online (Isn't Google amazing?!), so it's great to finally get an opinion of someone who has experience in this. Thanks a bunch!

I like the website too -and your personal story. its very motivating! It all looks good. the only thing I think I might alter is remove the "currently pursuing ACSM and ISSA" certs from the bio. your already certified and most people dont know one cert from another. If you say your currently pursing another cert it might make people think that what you have not isnt good enough. just my 2 cents - and its probalby worth less than that
other than that its a great website!

I know that you posted this a while ago but I wanted to give you my professional opinion on your site as of today. I think that it has a lot of nice features but you could increase conversions pretty dramatically if you implemented a few of them.

I have a program that makes it easy to capture my screen and make a video, its easier for me than typing. You can see the video review I did for your website here: TechSmith | Screencast.com, online video sharing, SiteReview

Any questions just let me know.
