    Default Where to Go Next?

OK so here's my dillema- I work as a free lance pt. My client books are full and I run my own functional fitness class. I have a book nearly completed with a potential publisher- which may do well it may not! I don't want to farm out my training work as I don't think its right some how as its never sat well with me. But now where to go??? I'm only 31 and don't like to feel that this is it - I always like to expand and develop more of my business but feel slightly trapped by it all- so any suggestions!!

Hi Sam! What about hiring more trainers?

By the way, it is so cool how well you've done over the years. Aren't you the one who had your van broken into and all your equipment stolen?

Hey- yeah am reluctant to farm out work to others trainers really- was thinking maybe get some trainers under me with different specialisations- i.e fight training, power lifting, bodybuilding, weight loss etc etc- that feels kinda ok. I guess I should be grateful for just having my books full as I know many who don't especially with the recession in the uk- just want to keep growing- don't want to stagnate!
Yep I got my van broken into about 4 years ago I think it was now! Never got the stuff back but have got much better equipment now!

Christina, I'm curious to get your point of view on hiring other trainers, especially in the "on-location" personal training industry. I gave it a shot once before, and had the trainer working for me sign a no-compete clause, which is legally really all I could do. How do you keep a watch over employees who work in the field? How can I try to limit the idea of someone stealing a client for themselves, since we all know no-compete clauses rarely ever work. Any information that you guys may be able to provide me would be great! I'm in the same position you are, Sam! Great job on accomplishing everything you have so far.
Yeah, I'm using my sig for anchor text. At least I'm up front about it

I have farmed out work - I have found that as long as you offer the PT's a really reasonable cut of the money they generally don't want to go anywhere else as the clients are being spoon fed to them so to speak, with no marketing or promotional costs. Treat people well and most of the time they will return the courtesy.
I also have seen with other PT's who have other trainers working from under them that if they take a too large cut, if the client starts to asks questions about who recieves what the client can feel cheated that they are paying two people- one who does nothing apart from the client feed. I've toyed with the idea of being actively involved in not only supplying the client but also writing the clients program for the PT to train the client with but this removes some of the other PT's input

Is there an example of a typical contract for bringing on trainers?

No, we've never had anyone upload anything. If anyone out there has something like this please share with us!
