    Default Risk Assessments

So there is a lot of info on how to do risk assessments in my ACSM materials. Question is, do all of you who are personal trainers actually take the time to make your potential clients go through this process? Or do you do other things to base your decision on?

No. I think some of this stuff gets way out of hand. I have them fill out a PAR-Q.

If you have a question about personal training please post it on the forum instead of sending me an email or private message. Chances are your questions will help someone else. Thanks!

Agree with Christina. I generally ask a potential client if they have medical clearance to be working out. I then go over a pre-canned list of questions before I even meet with them concerning the following health issues:

    Heart Problems
    Blood Pressure
    Joint Problems
    Degerating Diseases
    Terminal Illnesses

If they pass these, then I have them fill out a simple PAR-Q and of course a medical liability waiver. Therefor if something goes wrong during a session because a client kept vital health information from you, you should be covered.
