    Default Help: Presentation?

    Hello,

Newbie to the website! I was just wondering on what your presentation is like for trying to sell training? I've been certified with NASM for awhile now and have always relied on the gym I am working at for leads (they sell training along with memberships), but now-a-days people just opted for the membership and will only go as far as scheduling a Fitness Assessment. Now it's up to me to convert them into clients for myself. I've been a bit rusty but I do know my presentation is a bit weak. I was googling for a Personal Trainer community and came across this site.

Any advice or suggestions would be great.

    Thanks!

P.S. Does anyone know if the NASM workshop teaches presentations?

    Welcome whitpea!

I am not familiar with NASM or whether or not the workshop teaches presentations on selling PT services. Not sure if you are a member of IDEA -- a fitness industry association -- but I've seen a couple of items on the site that will help you sell personal training. You can go to ideafitness.com.

I am working for a gym right now that offers one free training session, which then allows trainers to upsell their own packages. I try to be as thoughtful as possible without giving away my "trade secrets". Towards the end they usually ask the way it works and I give them my standard rate and then offer them a deal if they buy multiple sessions.

Apart from that I am just working on building my own Web site and other materials that will help me sell my services.

    Hope this helps.

Update: The recent issue of IDEA Trainer Success has an article that deals with navigating successful client consultations -- AKA: closing the deal. It's pretty good. http://www.ideafit.com/fitness-libra...tm_campaign=T1

Be very clear what you have to offer and how it helps solve the problems of your ideal clients. With your assessment, you want to give the member value, but then you need to show them how what they need can be resolved by your expertise!

There is such a thing as 'push' marketing and 'pull' marketing. We traditionally think of 'push' marketing when we get the 'in your face' salespeople, who we can't get away from fast enough. This is because they have not even ASKED us what we want or need! If you can really tap into what the member wants/needs, and then give them just a taste of HOW you can help them get it (faster), then they might be more willing to try.
