    Default My Questions!

So I just started out and I'm NASM certified. I'm starting to have a few clients file in for their free session (offering that now while I start out).

I was looking into getting a few additional certifications. The cost of them aren't an issue, since a lot of the initial expenses are covered by someone else (long story short). I can get a certification for any of the following:

    Kick boxing fitness
    Boxing fitness
    Self-defense fitness

I know people have said you need to specialize your practice to make you stand out. But I'm unsure if this will DILLUTE my services, or GIVE ME MORE OPTIONS. I guess they sorta sound like they do the same, but I dunno.

I think it would be cool to offer a lunchtime boxing or self-defense class. But I still want to use my NASM certification that I worked so hard for.

    What do you think?

Someone once told me something that has always stayed with me: "Choose one thing and be really good at it rather than choosing too many things and only being mediocre."

Let me ask you, are you already into kickboxing/self-defense?

Getting into kickboxing isn't as quick and easy as it sounds. First off how much experience do you have? You wouldn't want to be teaching your clients bad form and technique, plus all it would take as one student with past experience in KB to call you out as a fraud. To become a trainer requires a lot of time being a student.
There is also a good size financial investment. All your students should be using hand wraps and gloves. plus you will need enough body shields and muy tia pads(pads that are worn over your hands so the other person can hit them) for every student to use. I don't intend to discourage you or anyone else to starting a kickboxing gym, I just want people to be educated in the facts.
Remember, anywere at any time someone is training to be better than YOU.
