Default Female athlete triad - something I just thought of...

I posted this here in "the breakroom" because although it may appear to be personal training related, it is only vaguely so, and wanders way off-topic.

Anyway, I was discussing the female athlete triad the other day with a buddy of mine. He found it very interesting that female athletes were, as a group, predisposed to a similar set of problems. After we were done discussing it, something dawned on me that made me kinda grin in a sort of "did they plan that or was it an accident" kind of way.

Given that one of the more serious problems within the triad is "eating disorders" (specifically anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa), is it just me, or is it somewhat inappropriate that the acronym for female athlete triad works out to be "FAT". Of course you never see it written as an acronym -- small wonder.

Sort of like the small beach community near me that didn't think very much about the name for its public bus service when they named it the Treasure Island Transit System (no, I'm not kidding).

    LOL! Very insightful, Brian.

I don't know... I think that's an appropriate acronym for TREASURE Island's transit system.
