Did anyone see Larry King last night when he had Suzanne Summers talking about her book that advocates "bioidentical hormones" for older women? Since supplements are one of my main areas of research I thought Id chime in with my 2 cents:

The thing that I didnt hear mentioned is that they are not "identical" but rather bio-similar hormones extracted from Yams etc. it struck me how we have come full circle. bodybuilders in the 70s-80s were eating yams etc because of a thought that they could raise endogenous hormone levels. few in fitness do this anymore however the concept has picked up momentum among baby boomers who are looking for the fountain of youth.

bioidentical hormones are not new - although the name is. it seems like a new take on an old concept. Hormones from food are not identical to hormones from human tissues.
