We had a pretty exciting weekend. Last Monday we were on our way to Houston, Texas and our car broke down outside of Memphis. Long story short, the part that was needed to fix the car was too heavy to send by air so they had to ship it ground from CA to Memphis. You can imagine our surprise and frustration when we found out that our car was not going to be ready for a week! So here we are in Memphis, TN. We've been having a blast though! Been to Beale Street, Graceland, Civil Rights museum, the casinos in Tunica, and lots more. Plus, our food and lodging is being paid for by the company we bought our car from! Smile

Wow! Were you on your way to Houston for good, or was this supposed to be an "exploratory" trip?

Glad you got stuck outside of Mephis as there are worse places in Tennessee you could have broken down in! LOL Smile

My weekend was great. I attended my first "Business Expo" for one of the cities I live close to. Got lots of exposure and leads. (Over 150!) (Which is actually good for the part of the county I live in). And I met some of my competitiors. There weren't many though as it wasn't strictly a "Fitness expo", just small business.

Folllowing up with a "thank you" letter to everyone who dropped their name and address into my "Door Prize" bucket. So hopefully will convert some to clients.

Hope the rest of your journey to Houston goes smoothly.

Dave

P.S. - Go see "Zodiac" (But be warned it's gruesome at points and long 2.5 hours)

Dave,

We were on our way to Houston to visit my horse (I didn't move him from there when we were living in CA) plus John had some job leads he wanted to look into. I wish we were going there for good and hopefully soon we will be! Unfortunately our trip has now been pushed to the end of March.

Fantastic news about the business expo!!! What did you give away as your door prize?

Just curious, did that couple who called you on Christmas eve ever buy any sessions?

Christina
PS - Did you go to the Arnold Classic? I know we talked about meeting up there but I obviously didn't make it.

Hey Christina,

I gave a way 1 free consultation, 1 in-home training session, a cookbook of egg, fish and chicken recipes, some Set Point energy bars, and a DVD(Which didn't star me, unfortunately) LOL Smile )

Yes the couple that called me on Christmas eve bought trainnig from me. I see them every other week and their last session is next wednesday. The husband loves my routines by the wife is having second thoughts. (Not about me, but about exercise in general). I spent aobut 15 minutes trying to talk her out of getting Liposuction last wednesday. So I think her husband will continue with me, but she may not.

She's been resistant to my dietary suggestions (She never eats breakfasts and her and her husband eat out atleast 4 times a week) and hasn't been consistent on training on her own. (Unlike the husband).

I'm a little disheartened that I couldn't breakthrough to her and make her catch the exercise bug.

I did not make it to the Arnold because of financial constraints and home projects. But next year definitely. The e-books I sell had a group of 12 people attend and are looking to have a bigger crowd for next year. So I have no excuse being only 3 hours away from Columbus. As long as the money is there.

Hey Dave,

I can completely relate to the whole client thing. I have a really good friend who is extremely obese. We have all tried talking to him, encouraging him, etc. but nothing helps. I created an online program for him (he lives in another state), encouraged him to get a Nike sensor/transmitter for his Nano so I could track his cardio workouts, offered to cheer him on by sending him text messages and emails every single day, even offered to hire a dietitian to help him with his meal planning. Each and every time he was supposed to start the program he came up with an excuse. "I'm sick", "I have to travel out of town on business", or "I'm going to start exercising this weekend." Last week I sent him a link to a Team Hoyt video (the father/son team that competes in endurance events, son is disabled) thinking that it may inspire him. He emailed me back saying, "They're going to be in my town competing this weekend! This is so inspiring!" A few days ago I got an email from his sister who said SHE really wanted to see Team Hoyt compete but she was "outvoted" and they ended up going to a pub instead of watching the race! I have pretty much accepted the fact that my friend does not want help and there is nothing I can do about it. He is a ticking time bomb. He has high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type II diabetes... you name it.

You did all you could do for your client. The fact of the matter is, when it comes to diet and exercise most people are lazy and they are always looking for the easy way out. Don't beat yourself up. It's not a relection on YOU, it's a reflection on HER.
