HFS Study Question Help!!!
I am studying to take the HFS exam and working on Risk Stratification right now. I have been reading post by other users stating that you need to have this section down pat. Do I need to also have the Risk Stratification Criteria for AHA ( Box 2.2 and 2.3 in the GETP 8th edition) memorized as well? or Just the ACSM CVD,Pulmonary, and Metabolic signs/symptoms and CVD Risk factors. (Table 2.2 and 2.3 in GETP 8th edition)
Thanks,
Zack

ACSM Tables 2.2 and 2.3 are the most important ones to understand. Also know Table 2.1 (Risk Strat. Categories). Figure 2.3 will help you in a logical manner.

There is a great flow chart showing on page 24 of the GETP 8th Edition that explains best on how to use the information in tables 2.2 and 2.3.
It’s important to know what major diseases automatically place an individual in the High Risk category as well as what signs and symptoms suggestive of these diseases also automatically places people in the “High Risk” category.
On page 29 of the GETP 8th edition, ACSM provides 4 case studies with the answers provided in table form on page 30.
If you have any difficulty memorizing of the medical terminology like syncope (loss of consciousness), dyspnea (shortness of breath), and orthopnea (shortness of breath during rest) to name a few, then at a minimum realize that whenever any type of unusual sign of symptom is described, you can pretty much count on it meaning that the client should be automatically placed in the High Risk category.
Hope this helps someone.
