Another Exam Question
I am a few weeks away from testing and have been meandering around this site for a few days. I have heard mention that you must prepare for the WAY the exam asks it's questions because ACSM seems to have a unique format. Can someone please ellaborate on that? I attended the workshop where there are a few questions given at the end of the workbook, I have taken the 'sample' online exam (18 q's), and have purchased the 'practice' test (100 q's) and haven't sensed any of the questions being worded/formatted in an abnormal way....
Are the questions on the exam worded/formatted similar to those of the workbook and online exams? *Please note I am not asking about what is asked....rather, HOW it is asked.
Thanks in advance!

In my experience, I haven't found the questions to be worded "abnormally" -- although I'm not completely clear on what that actually means.
That being said, I did come across a few questions in the Cert Review book and maybe one or two in the online tests that were worded a bit awkwardly. What I found from talking to people is that this happens -- not just in this scenario -- but with other tests.
As far as the test was concerned, I found that using the Cert Review book, the online tests and other mechanisms helped me greatly in preparing for how the test would actually appear. The only thing that I will (and can say) is that the questions ranged from broad to perhaps a bit obscure -- but all fair game (i.e. included in the KSAs).

I def felt the questions on the exam were awkward.

I have yet to sit for the exam, but have taken the RD exam and the one thing I am gathering is that the ACSM PTC exam is similar in that, knowing the concepts (i.e. memorizing many of the theories) is crucial, but it is also being able to apply these concepts to different situations and settings.
For example, look at a case study. They give you a person with whatever problems, demographics, and you need to discern how to "deal," with them. I apologize about the harsh (read: "deal" with a person...you don't deal...you train, counsel, advise, etc.) language, but I think you understand where I am coming from.
Question for you guys/gals: Can you please provide a link for this online practice exam? Is is both pc and mac compatible?
