Hi,
I used this exam as part of my study materials. It is multiple choice like the exam and there about 100 questions (the actual test has 150). It wasn't like the exam -- meaning it didn't have any of the same questions as on the test. What it didn't have were practically applied questions, like where you would have to apply your knowledge of CVD risk factors to a question around someone's ability to participate in an exercise program. From what I remember, it tested your knowledge in a more straightforward way. It wasn't easy, so I found it challenging and useful.
If you have ACSM's Certification Review -- the comprehensive test in the back of that book was awesome. You should really do all the practice tests in that book in addition to the comprehensive. I did the tests in that book several times until I started to do really well -- like 90% and higher. I would say that book was probably the best in preparing me for the actual test. Although I did other tests and worked with a study buddy (we tested each other) along the way.
Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Dinah
