    Dinah,

Thanks for the nice comments. I agree with you very strongly about making study flash cards based on the KSA's.

    Chris,

As far as I am concerned, you get the prize because your answer makes sense and it is logical.

However, the ACSM explanation in their practice test (which I am unfortunately unable to access anymore-apparently there must be some sort of time limit to how often or how many times you can retake the same practice test that you purchase) said something about the slowing of the heart rate had something to do with how chronic exercise increases the parasympathetic system which is responsible for controlling resting heart rate.

By the way, great point you made about clarifying the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

Anyone, who is knowledgeable about this particular topic, we would really appreciate your insight.

    Jeff

    Jeff,

I forgot about that. That is absolutely true. With that said, that is only a chronic adaptation of aerobic exercise, specifically. I do not believe that is an adaptation of anaerobic exercise.

Default Any chance you would share the slides?

I found my study buddy on this very site and we developed flashcards (a.k.a PowerPoint slides) -- where we made one flashcard for EVERY KSA. Yes, I said every KSA. It took a long time, but we divvied up the work. We would also make up test questions for every slide. So we would review the completed cards, give each other time to study and then come together to ask the test questions. It took about 3 solid months, but totally worth it -- we passed on our first time around!

Also, BrianB's tips? My study buddy and I referred to them as the "Holy Grail" of our resources. Fantastic guide and quite spot on. Used them all the time -- up until the very last night of studying.

Just a few more endorsements from the newly certified...

Lately, I have started reading the Nutrition section but I mistakenly bought ACSM's Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, Sixth Edition instead of ACSM's Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription Eighth Edition. If I would like to return it then shipping will just kill me (I live in Karachi) so can I still work my way through without ACSM's Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription Eighth Edition. Please advise! Thanks, Amin G.
