Default ACSM Certified Personal Trainer Workshops

Can anyone recommend a good time for attending a Certified Personal Trainer Workshop? I've recently started studying for the ACSM Personal Trainer Certificate and would like to go to one of the seminars, I just want to know how others feel about timing in terms of attending one, should you go early in the process or should you wait until you've read most or all of the study material.

    Hi Mark,

I asked the very same question on this forum and no one ever responded, but I am going to "pay it forward". I ended up attending the ACSM CPT workshop right after I had read the main text all the way through. I probably had been studying on my own for about 3 months. The workshop really helped to crystallize and narrow down the "stuff" that was critical. I didn't take my test until several months later, but I still referred to the workshop book and notes very regularly. I would say that maybe you should familiarize yourself with the materials and KSAs before you attend the workshop, so you don't go in "cold". That being said, it's different for everyone and depending on your background and ability to absorb information -- and when you want to take the test -- these things will all factor into your decision.

But overall, I thought the workshop was worth the money. The instructor I had was really super.
