    Default ACSM online portal courses

    Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anybody had taken the ACSM courses they have on their Learning Portal:

    http://www.acsmlearning.org/acsm/courses.do

I'm currently studying for the ACSM CPT and was thinking that they might be very focused on what is needed for the ACSM certifications of course.

Please let me know what you think about them if you have any experience from them. Please also let me know if you had any pre-existing knowledge or if you were a newbie to the area when you took them.

    Thanks for any feedback!

    Default ACSM Learning Portal

    Hi Ulrika,

I purchased a few of the online courses through ACSM and found them to be very helpful. It's always nice to have the information presented to you in a couple of different ways so that you actually absorb the material. The quiz at the end isn't comprehensive; it's a few questions that just test your memory a bit. I've also purchased the comprehensive exam but haven't taken it yet. I was new to ACSM and the field of personal training and it was especially helpful to have these extra tools to learn.

    Hope that helps!

p.s. I'm close to taking the exam but if you ever wanted to "study" virtually together...that would be great too!

    Hey, guys!

I am also very close to taking the exam, and I think it would be very helpful to review the material together.

Hi Ulrika and welcome. I took the physiology course as well as the human behavior course through the portal. I recommend the physiology course, but not the human behavior course. Since you are currently taking anatomy/physiology through a college or university I don't think you need to bother.

How I determined which classes to take is I purchased the practice exam, took it, looked at the subjects I scored low in, and then took the courses in those subjects. I think the courses are done nicely and I liked the quizzes. I would recommend them. (They are not absolutely necessary though.) If you have no experience in anatomy and physiology you may want to consider this particular course through the portal.

Hope this helps you, Ulrika, or someone else.

    Default Thanks

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for the tips! I know that I study best when I take class, a course or something that leads me through rather than reading on my own.

That is partly because it was a while ago since I was in school

I now know that most of the courses are good so if I need it I will go through with them as well.

I have part II of anatomy and physiology left starting October and then I'm off on my own trying to get to where I'm ready to take the exam. I appreciate the offer of a virtual study buddy but I have to wait until that course is done. If you are still there or anybody else that would be great!

    Thanks!
