CECs
Hey guys!
I was wondering about the recertification process with ACSM. I remember reading BrianB on the subject, and he was saying that it is relatively easy and does not cost much (free?) to accumulate enough CECs.
Can someone familiar with the process let us all know about what options one has in getting CECs? What is the best way to go about it?

Nicholas,
I am new to this process but the ACSM's Certified News and Health & Fitness Journal offer 4 CEC's for $15.00. I haven't seen any continuing education programs for free. Maybe someone will offer other options.

Penny,
Thank you for your reply. Is $15 for taking one test?
Also, according to the Candidate Handbook, there are 25 CECs in ACSM Health and Fitness Journal© each year.
But there are tons of other options like workshops, classes, other cert programs with their CECs, etc. I was wondering if anyone does anything besides self-tests.

Nicholas,
The H&F Journal had 2 articles which provided 4 CEC's for $15.00 and
ACSM's Certified News had 3 articles which provided 4 CEC's for $15.00.
I recently took a one day course through Cross Country Education which
was a combination of lecture and demonstration/practice.
I live near Madison and Milwaukee,Wi and Chicago,IL so throughout the year I am receiving brochures from various companies that provide ACSM approved seminars. It's just deciding which one's to attend.
I don't think it will be hard to obtain the ACSM CEC's.
Good luck,
Penny
