Congratulations! I'm glad that you passed. What do you plan on using your cert for? Do you already work as a PT?

    Congratulations! :medal:

What do you think helped you prepare the most for the second time? What was your strategy?

    Thanks Christina and mwill758!

Mwill758, I currently do not work in the fitness field. I live in DC/MD metro area so we have some interesting gyms here. My first choice would be LA Fitness ... the most beautiful gym ... very large !

Christina, good question. Brian's post is priceless as prep for the ACSM exam and I recommend everyone read his post. When I failed my first time I realized the case study and risk stratification stumped me. I also needed to brush up on major muscles AND their functions so I checked out the NSCA Strength Training book (as you recommended) and Maran Weight Training Illustrated.

To prep for my retest I:

-Reviewed Chapter 2 in GETP on risk stratification. Very very important is to FULLY memorize the CAD risk factors and what makes someone as ow/moderate/high risk.

-Reviewed Chapter 7 -General Principles for Exercise Prescription

-Reviewed those 2 weight training books that I checked out from the library. (1. NSCA Strength Training and 2. Maran Weight Training Illustrated)

-Kept on taking practice exams from a PT prep site I purchased online.

If anyone has any questions, just ask.
