Default know Submaximal and Maximal Test??

Okay so here goes my first question ops:

In regards to tests such as the cycle ergometer test (YMCA and Astrand), Bruce Submaximal, Queens Step Test, walk run test....

I am fairly well versed in most of these however, I was wondering if anyone could advise me on how detailed the test is structured around each protocol.

    Thanks for any consideration!

I will preface this by saying that it has been quite a while since I took the exam. I know it can be overwhelming to try to determine what is going to be on the exam but don't get caught up in too many details. Know generalities! You will not be expected to memorize the tiniest of details.

    Hope this helps.

    thanks for the fast response!

my plan is to just know the basic outline of each test....which I already do.
but, there are a lot of specifics that each test carries and the reality is that in lab or gym the trainer has the ability to refer to the mauel prior and post testing.

Thanks again for the quick post, this has been definately the most informative forum I have come across regarding any PT cert.

Christina, if I may ask, how well has your ACSM cert served you?
Most every trainer around here has an ACE cert and are clueless as to why I have chosen ACSM. Do you find most people "in the know" are impressed with your ACSM cPT title?

p.s. :P sorry for being so inquisitive!!
I have only had the opportunity to talk to one other person with an ACSM certification and he said he basically passed due to luck!

Also- in reading your posts I can see you are obviously an educated person and your input is/ will be well respected.

    Thanks Again

    Hi bulldogdaddy,

I think one thing you will find is that not a lot of your clients will ask you about your certification. People who work in the fitness industry are the ones who are mostly concerned about credentials. You will also find that some people in our industry are not at all impressed by ACSM's certifications. It really depends on who you talk to. Everyone seems to think that the organization they are certified through is the best. The important thing to remember is that no matter who you get certified through you should view your certification as the beginning of your education and not the end.

By the way, you are not bugging me in the slightest so feel free to ask questions. This is what the forum is for.
